School Board

 

St. John's Sauers Lutheran School Board consists of eight members, elected for three-year terms. Board meetings are held on a monthly basis. Anyone with discussion items for the agenda may contact any of the board members or the school office.

The role of the school board is, first and foremost, to make certain that our students receive the best possible Christ-centered education. Toward that end, the school board, among other duties and responsibilities:

  • Helps set and revise school policy;
  • Offers Christian guidance and wisdom for the administration and teachers in decision-making; 
  • Participates in strategic planning by establishing goals, objectives, long-range, and short-range plans for the school;
  • Develops and defends policy by formulating policies in accordance with Indiana District guidelines - which give general direction for administrative action;
  • Offers financial advice by developing plans/means to finance the school's educational programs including tuition, development and fundraising, allocating resources according to a budget and monitoring these plans;
  • Participates in the selection of the principal and teachers; and
  • Exercises responsibility for the  school facility itself.
